The McDonald's chicken breakfast sandwich

According to statistics, chicken is the most popular meat in the world.  And Ohioans seems to be pretty clucking happy to eat it, too.

Fried chicken sandwiches have been like golden eggs for everyone from Popeyes to Chick-fil-A and Wendy's to Raising Cane's. McDonald's has taken notice and now has launched a special chicken breakfast sandwich in Ohio.

A release from the fast food mega-giant says they aren't ones to "shy away from the ongoing 'chicken wars,'" and so they are testing the new offering featuring fried chicken on a biscuit or English muffin.

Some versions of the crispy chicken sandwich are being tested in other markets, but the biscuit and English muffin sandwiches are unique to the Buckeye State.

Want to try the "Southern-style fried chicken fillet that’s crispy, juicy and tender, served on a buttery biscuit or toasted McMuffin?" McDonald's says all Cincinnati locations are serving it.

The sandwiches will be available until April 4, and an email from a McDonald's representative says while they aren't sure if/when it will be added to the permanent menu, it may make a return in February and March next year.
