New neighborhood bar and restaurant The Well Covington will hold its grand opening on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Located on W. Seventh St. in Covington, The Well is a new concept from local veteran hospitality leaders Will Hodges, Chase Daoud and chef Mitch Arens. Described as equal parts cool and casual, The Well provides a laidback and cozy lounge, as well as a large patio, with plenty of seating throughout and large-screen TVs, making it a great game-day destination.

“The Well is a new bar concept by two friends who wanted to create something special,” Hodges said in a press release. “Everyone is welcome with open arms at The Well Covington. We are your friendly neighborhood patio bar that implements modern amenities to seamlessly form a unique, entertainment venue.”

In addition to the main seating area, there is also the Mez Level, which includes a lounge area. The patio has two astroturf areas, three firepits with outdoor couches, bar and picnic tables and even a live tree.

The restaurant at The Well is called Grub Local and is helmed by Arens, the former executive chef at Hotel Covington. The menu offers a tasty spin on classic American cocktails and drinks, like the Chicago-ish Dog, Poboy or “Nashville Hot” Skewers.

Arens says Grub Local is also all about revamping hometown favorites, like their Jumbo Coney.

“Our passion is putting only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients on your plate and in your mouth,” Arens said in the release. “So if small bites are your thing, Grub Local is your new kink.”

The Well menu also features small plates, with offerings such as the Cincy-Style Birria Nachos and Hanky Panky Balls; bowls; and add-ons of tater tots, crispy Brussel sprouts and mac and cheese and a pineapple upside down cake, beignets with café au lait syrup and powdered sugar or chocolate pudding with bourbon whipped cream and honey brittle for dessert. Their drink list includes $11 specialty drinks, wines, some draft beers and a variety of canned beers and seltzers.
