Graeter's was named one of the 220 best chains in America.

We here in Cincinnati obviously love Graeter's ice cream, but it's always nice to hear our local obsession called out on a national level.

Newsweek just released its inaugural list of America's Favorite Restaurant Chains and Graeter's is called out with a five-star rating in its collection of ice cream and frozen yogurt chains. Other outlets who made the list include Ben & Jerry's, Dairy Queen and Cold Stone Creamery.

"For the first time, Newsweek and global data firm Statista are proud to award America's Favorite Restaurant Chains in selected categories. The awards are based on the results of a survey of more than 4,000 customers and employees of restaurant chains in the U.S. This year there are 220 winners in 16 categories," writes Newsweek's Global Editor in Chief, Nancy Cooper.

Since its founding in 1870, Graeter’s French Pot Ice Cream, handmade chocolate confections and fresh-baked goods have become Queen City traditions. Today, the Graeter family still faithfully uses century-old recipes and methods of production, including making each 2-and-a-half gallon batch in a French pot freezer and packing each pint by hand.

Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is their signature flavor — and an Oprah Winfrey favorite. The flavor is crafted with black raspberries from Oregon's Willamette Valley and bittersweet chocolate chunks. Instead of boring old chips, Graeter's pours liquid chocolate into each batch resulting in wonky-sized and sometimes gigantic pieces of chocolate; whoever gets the biggest chunk wins.
