An Over-the-Rhine seafood restaurant is closing its doors at the end of the year. Atwood Oyster House owners Garth Lieb and Tom Stephen announced on social media Thursday that the restaurant’s last night of service will be New Year’s Eve.
“The process of coming to this decision was emotional and made with difficulty. We thank our patrons. We enjoyed every minute of serving you. Our mission was to bring Cincinnati diners perfectly presented oysters and elegant and thoughtful seafood dishes—we are proud to have fulfilled that vision. We are grateful for our team, whose countless hours of hard work have made Atwood such a wonderful place to dine,” shared Lieb and Stephen.
Atwood Oyster House opened in the space formerly occupied by oyster restaurant PearlStar at 1220 Vine St. in November 2023, offering a menu also focused on oysters and seasonal seafood. The kitchen was most recently helmed by Chef Mariah Weiner.
“It’s been an honor to work with one of the most talented and creative chefs in this city or any other. Chef Mariah gave life to a difficult concept in challenging times. We look forward to following a true star in this industry in her culinary journey,” Lieb and Stephen continued.
Reservations are open through Dec. 31. If you have a gift card, you’re encouraged to visit the Atwood Oyster House before the closure, but any gift cards purchased after Nov. 1 can be refunded at the restaurant, or you can use your gift card at Lieb and Stephen’s other locations, The Pony and Liberty’s Bar and Bottle, until March 1.
