A Mediterranean restaurant in Walnut Hills is closing in the new year.

The Aperture’s Chef Jordan Anthony-Brown announced on social media Sunday night that his restaurant, in its current iteration, will hold its last service on New Year’s Eve, two years after it first opened.

“We have made the difficult but necessary decision to pause our present operations, take some time to absorb lessons from the past two years and, along with a little bit of rest and reflection, rebuild for the future that we’re planning to start during early 2026.  But we believe that this is not ‘goodbye’ but ‘see you later’ – a worthwhile bridge to cross,” wrote Anthony-Brown.

The Aperture opened in Walnut Hills’ Paramount Square on New Year’s Eve in 2023 with a Mediterranean-inspired menu that focused on three pillars: intention, balance and focus. In September 2024, the restaurant was named on the New York Times’ annual “The Restaurant List.” And in January 2025, Anthony-Brown was announced as a semifinalist in the Emerging Chefs category of the James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards.

The restaurant’s final day will be part of a New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring a collaboration between The Aperture and its culinary resident, Basque steakhouse ETXE. On Dec. 31, diners can enjoy a seven-course tasting menu that represents both The Aperture’s Mediterranean flavors and the ETXE’s Spanish and Basque Country influence. The Aperture’s Kyla Mains and ETXE’s Heather Brady have also selected wine pairings for the menu.

Tickets are $175 per guest, and the optional wine pairings are an additional $75 per guest. The Aperture says there will be a dedicated vegetarian tasting menu, but other allergy and dietary modifications may be limited and require advance notice to ensure reasonable accommodation. You can make your reservation here.

Anthony-Brown has not said what will follow The Aperture at this time.

“But for now, I only seek to express gratitude – to our guests, team, community, and all that have supported us.  Past, present, and future,” he wrote.
