A Cincinnati bakery is closing its doors permanently at the end of the year.

The Cheesecakery owner, Liz Fields, shared on social media Monday that she will be closing her Madisonville storefront after Sunday, Dec. 28, citing a decrease in consumer spending and an increase in operating costs. Fields says the Anderson Township location will remain open, allowing her and her team to operate more sustainably, keep shelves stocked and bring back favorites like tiramisu, cannoli, lemon bars, blondies and more.

“Madisonville has been my home as a sixth-generation resident, and opening here six years ago was a deeply personal and intentional decision. I’m endlessly grateful for the memories, the milestones, and the community that supported us from day one,” Fields wrote. “Thank you, Madisonville, for an unforgettable six years. This isn’t goodbye—it’s a transition, and I hope you’ll continue this journey with us.”

Fields also told WCPO that safety issues the Madisonville The Cheesecakery had been experiencing recently, including harassment and theft, played a small role in the closure, but that the decision is largely based on consumer spending habits.

The Madisonville storefront at 4825 Whetsel Ave. will be available for lease soon, and Fields says she is open to conversations about selling her ice cream shop concept, Whetsel Whip, and its equipment. You can message Fields for more information.
