The Frost Factory offers Cincinnatians build-your-own craft slushies in a fun, upbeat atmosphere with a twist: the option to add shots of booze.

The Frost Factory, which opened about four weeks ago in Liberty Center, is owned by Sammi Wendt and Jamie Robinson. Inspired by a trip to a restaurant that mixed tequila with a slushie, Robinson pitched the idea to Wendt, who said she wanted to take it to the next level and make slushies in-house.

Slushie flavors include strawberry basil lemonade, orange dream and blueberry mojito, among others, and are all made from scratch using secret fruit puree recipes and fresh ingredients. You can customize your drink by layering different slushies on top of each other.

And The Frost Factory doesn’t stop at fruit — they also offer flavors like salted caramel latte and cookies and cream.

The bar has house and premium alcohols, which are a dollar difference in price. Premium drinks include Patron, Hennessy, Captain Morgan, Tito’s and house drinks include Smirnoff, Sauza and Cruzan.

The amount of shots in a slushie varies depending on its size. There are 12 ounce, 20 ounce and a 40-ounce fishbowl option, which hold one, two and three shots respectively. You can also get a half-gallon bucket of slush that holds six shots. Additionally, non-alcoholic slushies are available for purchase.

And if you can't decide which slush you want to try, they offer a three-flavor flight.

Alcohol-free drinks are $5 for the 12 ounce and $6 for the 20 ounce, while drinks with alcohol range from $9 to $14 depending on the size and liquor (fishbowls cost $20-$23). The bar also has several hot drinks, including campfire s’mores and banana creampie (all hot drinks are booze-infused).

Wendt says that opening up a new business was exciting, but that the pandemic made it a slow process because everything had to be done by mail.

“The timeframe got pushed out. Instead of opening early summer, it was more late summer,” she says. “We’re grateful that it’s as successful as it is, and we’re doing our best with everything at hand to really just keep everybody’s safety in mind and really make it as great as we can given the situation.”

Fortunately for Wendt, she's owned several other smoothie businesses before The Frost Factory, and her past experience made opening her latest business less challenging, she says.

The Frost Factory is located at 7547 Bales St. in Liberty Township. More info is available on Facebook.
