Two Cities Pizza 202 W. Main St., Mason; 7373 Kingsgate Way, West Chester “Plain and simple, if you're not eating here, you're not eating the best pizza. Every time I've eaten here, always fresh to order, great pizza selections, both New York style and Chicago style. Don't stop at the pizza though! You've heard of French fries right? Well these guys took everything you know about fries, fast forwarded them 1,000 years, reinvented them, made their own ranch and They. Are. Fire. Like order a whole serving for yourself, you'll thank me later.” -Chris M. Photo: facebook.com/twocitiespizzamason

Two Greater Cincinnati restaurants have some of the best pizza, according to a new report from Yelp.

The report, published Wednesday, ranked the top 100 pizza joints in the Midwest, with both Il Gusto Pizza & Pasta in Deer Park and Two Cities Pizza Company in Mason making the list. The top spot went to Loui’s Pizza in Hazel Park, Michigan.

To rank the pizza joints, Yelp identified businesses in the pizza category that had a large concentration of reviews that mentioned relevant keywords. It then ranked those spots using factors like the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning those keywords and consulted with community managers to figure out which spots Yelpers loved. States included in the rankings were Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The report also identified recent trends among pizza joints, including ramping up spicy topping offerings; creative, outside-the-box flavor combinations; and more options for those with different dietary needs and preferences.

Il Gusto came in 17th in the rankings. In the reviews, Yelpers said they really enjoyed this unpretentious, strip-mall eatery’s quick service, fresh ingredients and New York-style crust. For a non-pizza option, the meatballs and calzones were also popular picks.

As for Two Cities, it came in 38th, and Yelpers appreciate the menu, which features both Chicago deep-dish-style and New York-style pies, as well as the option for both indoor and outdoor seating. And while it’s typically busy and a packed house, reviewers say Two Cities’ service is top-notch.

Overall, 11 other Ohio pizza joints made the list, including Old Scratch Pizza in Dayton, Tyler’s Pizzeria & Bakery in Reynoldsburg and Terita’s Pizza Carry Out in Columbus. See the full rankings here.
