Cincinnati-based Indie/Art Pop band The Ophelias recently dropped a seven-track live EP. On May 1, the reigning Cincinnati Entertainment Award winners in the “Indie/Alternative” category released the EP of songs recorded last month as part of the popular music platform Audiotree’s live sessions.

The Ophelias on Audiotree Live is available on all major digital outlets to stream or purchase (click here to find your favorite platform). Video of the full session is also available via YouTube (watch below). Visit audiotree.tv for more info.

Six of the seven tracks on the EP are songs from the band’s full-length Almost, which was released a year ago through respected indie label Joyful Noise Recordings. The other track is “Adam's Apple” from The Ophelias’ Creature Native, which was recorded in 2015 and released in 2017 by Joyful Noise as part of its limited-edition White Label series.

For the Audiotree session, the band got to record for the first time with its expanded touring ensemble, in which singer/guitarist Spencer Peppet, drummer Micaela Adams and violinist Andrea Gutmann Fuentes are joined by violinist Nina Payiatis and bassist Jo Shaffer.

Working with the touring musicians opened up some new possibilities when it came to recording some of the previously-released material.

“It was especially great playing (Almost track) 'Lunar Rover' with Nina because we were able to create those looped rounds that are so integral to the song,” Fuentes said in a press release.

The Ophelias will embark on a quick run of tour dates with fellow Cincinnati band Leggy next month, beginning in Detroit and wrapping up in Brooklyn.
