Burritofest, a multi-day music festival at The Comet in Northside, is returning for its third year with even more acts and performances — “A real BurTHREEtofest celebration if you will,” says organizers Burrito Boys Booking.

The music fest will take place Thursday-Sunday, May 9-12, featuring bands and musicians from an eclectic range of genres, including Americana, punk, folk, hip-hop, experimental electronic music and more. Attendees will get to see performances with instruments like the accordion, the vibraphone and even the electric digeridoo.

This year, the festival is expanding, with both The Comet’s indoor and outdoor stages in use Thursday evening. Organizers say there will also be some traveling guests from places like North Carolina, California and Japan joining Burritofest throughout the weekend.

Attendees on Saturday of Burritofest can watch three blocks of comedy, courtesy of Bombs Away! Comedy. The evening will conclude with Project Holiday: a Tribute to Ty to honor Ty Holiday, a local musician and Burritofest volunteer who passed away in March. The set will feature several of Ty’s friends performing songs that honor her memory.

The final day of Burritofest will feature an acoustic singer-songwriter showcase curated by Max Vignola in the afternoon, followed by the traditional conclusion to the festival, a performance from the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars in the evening.

And you can’t have Burritofest without burritos. The Comet will once again have a special-edition burrito that will only be on the menu for the weekend, along with sponsor West Side Brewing's brews on tap. There will also be special edition Burritofest T-shirts for sale.

Admission is pay-what-you-can. All the proceeds will go to performers and to cover operation costs.
