BLINK organizers have announced a live concert and the creation of a permanent mural with projection mapping during the 2019 BLINK festival.
Alternative Rock band Grouplove will perform a free show, with opening acts TBA, on Oct.12 at Covington's RiverCenter parking lot. Grouplove is well-known for their Billboard top-five charting songs "Tongue Tied," "Ways to Go" and "Welcome to Your Life."
The collaboration brings together BLINK, Kroger's Wellness Your Way Festival and Corporex, the owner/builder of RiverCenter. In addition to the concert, a permanent mural will be created by local artist Xylene in collaboration with AGAR, a BLINK partner. The mural will be animated with projection mapping by BLINK partner Brave Berlin and will be located across from RiverCenter on the north tower of the TANK garage.
Unfolding Oct. 10-13, the BLINK 2019 art and light festival will span 30 blocks and cross the Ohio River with large-scale projection mapping, murals, interactive light sculptures, live entertainment and more. Officials announced in a press release May 30 that the historic Roebling Bridge will be brought to life with light, sound and color for the extravagant festival, connecting the two cities.

Butler, chairman of the Board of Corporex Companies, in a release. “I look forward to everyone, from both sides of the river, sharing a moment of art and light while experiencing the urban core of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati through BLINK.”
Additional Northern Kentucky BLINK activations include:
- A mural celebrating Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. on the U.S. Bank building at Sixth Street and Madison Avenue in Covington
- Two internationally acclaimed street artists performing architectural projection mapping on the Faile mural on West Sixth Street as well as on the London Police mural on Fourth and Scott streets
- An architectural projection mapping on the Hannaford building by Klip Collective
- A light installation on the Ohio River by Northern Kentucky University
- The world's largest disco ball and pop-up disco party
- And The Ascent will be brought to life by with animated light, color and patterns
“Covington will be one of BLINK’s most densely packed zones for art, light, music and food. More than 20 installations will be featured from the Roebling Bridge to Seventh and Madison not to mention dozens of activities and street performers,” said Brendon Cull, COO of BLINK partner the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. “We are thrilled to be expanding the wildly popular art and culture event, BLINK, into Northern Kentucky.
