Tuesday was the greatest day we've ever known, because the Smashing Pumpkins announced a new tour with a stop in Greater Cincinnati.

The Pumpkins announced the limited "Rock Invasion 2" tour on Tuesday, posting dates for the short jaunt on social media.

"Rock Invasion 2 tour! Invading select U.S. cities this May," the band said in a Feb. 22 Instagram post.
The Pumpkins will perform Friday, May 27, at PromoWest Pavilion at OVATION in Newport. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 25.

If you can't make the Newport date, the band will perform in Columbus one day later on May 28. See all 11 tour dates on the Pumpkins' website.

Alt-Rock band The Smashing Pumpkins rose to mega-popularity in the early 1990s with its mainstream hit album Siamese Dream, which featured now-staples such as "Today," "Disarm" and "Cherub Rock."

The band followed that up with the acclaimed double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, with classic Pumpkins songs "Bullet with Butterfly Wings," "Tonight, Tonight" and "1979." The Pumpkins went on to record 11 studio albums in all, including Cyr, released in November.

Below, watch the Smashing Pumpkins perform "Cherub Rock" in 1993.
