Sam Amidon, a Vermont-born and London-based musician, offers a performance that’s so theatrical in its construction that it has its own title — Home Alone Inside My Head. That means that in addition to playing acoustic instruments and singing his very artful take on Folk ballads, Gospel tunes and Blues, he incorporates storytelling and multimedia performance to create something rooted in tradition yet radically new. His latest album, I See the Sign, was arranged by New Music composer (and past MusicNow guest) Nico Muhly, so you know Amidon is cutting-edge in a way that makes him appropriate for CAC’s Black Box theater. The show is at 9 p.m. Thursday; doors open at 8 p.m.. Advance tickets are $12 through Nov. 16 at contemporaryartscenter.org ($10 for CAC members); $15 at the door.
