No, you're not seeing things. After weeks of gas price increases, Greater Cincinnati is finally seeing a little relief at the pump.
According to GasBuddy figures posted to the Hamilton County website, the price for one gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at many fuel stations has fallen to around $2.80 — a big drop from last week's Cincinnati average of about $3.11/gal.
GasBuddy says that on June 21, the lowest prices can be found in Columbia Tusculum, the East End and Monfort Heights.
The prices that GasBuddy found are lower than Cincinnati's average of $3.047/gal, says AAA. The longtime automobile association reports that one day ago, Cincinnati averaged $3.056/gal, which had already fallen from the area's $3.126/gal average on June 14.
Currently, Ohio's average cost per gallon is $3.004, while the national average is $3.071, AAA says.
Until now, average gas prices for both Cincinnati and Ohio had been steadily rising, and Ohio was one of the top 10 states with the biggest week-to-week changes.
But AAA says that gas prices are beginning to drop a little, adding that the demand for gas, the buying of gas stock, and the available fuel supply all have seen growth over the last week. The association continues to caution that rising crude oil prices could put the country back on the higher end of prices later in June.
