Cincinnati Public Schools has received a clean financial audit from the Ohio Auditor of State.
The audit, which reviewed the district’s financial statements and compliance for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, resulted in an “unmodified opinion.” This is the highest opinion an auditor can issue, indicating the financial statements are presented fairly.
Auditors found no material weaknesses in internal controls and no instances of noncompliance with laws, regulations or grant requirements.
“This result reflects the kind of financial discipline and attention to detail our team brings every day,” said Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for Cincinnati Public Schools Michael Gustin. “We take seriously the responsibility to manage public dollars the right way.”
The audit also confirmed that the district complied, in all material respects, with requirements related to major federal programs, including Title I, Student Support and Academic Enrichment, along with Head Start.
The Ohio Auditor of State also identified Cincinnati Public Schools as a low-risk auditee, a designation for organizations with a consistent track record of clean audits and strong internal controls.
Superintendent Shauna Murphy said the results reflect the district’s commitment to responsible stewardship of public resources.
“Our schools are here for kids, and that includes being responsible with every dollar entrusted to us,” Murphy said. “This audit affirms that commitment and the work happening across our district every day.”
Also released as part of this process is the district’s annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for 2025. The full report can be found on the CPS website.
