Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals! If you ever watched Home Alone as a kid and wanted the run of your house at Christmastime just like Kevin McCallister, here’s your chance to live out that dream. A new Home Alone-themed rental in Pleasant Ridge is now available to book.
Retro Retreats is a local boutique hotel with room rentals themed after popular TV shows and movies, including Friends– and Seinfeld-themed suites. Co-owner Brenda Baum says they finished the Home Alone-themed suite just in time for the holidays. The space not only offers a cozy place to curl up and stream all your favorite Christmas movies; it’s also got plenty of movie memorabilia throughout, from the kitchenette that’s modeled after Buzz McCallister’s bedroom to Kevin’s boobytraps that can be found throughout the space.
“Step into the holiday magic of our “Home Alone“-themed rental, where nostalgia and festive cheer collide! This one-of-a-kind stay is inspired by the iconic McCallister home, complete with delightful nods to the movie’s most memorable moments,” reads the rental listing.
The suite sleeps two people and is located in Pleasant Ridge, just above Lonely Pine Steakhouse and right next door to Overlook Lodge, which is also currently hosting its holiday pop-up, Miracle at the Overlook. You’re also just steps away from Goodfellas Pizza, so you can have your own “lovely cheese pizza, just for me,” moment. (Just make sure you pay for your pizza; no using Angels With Filthy Souls to scare anyone away, alright?)
And for guests who want to see the suite but can’t spend the night or have more than two guests, Baum is offering a 30% discount to book the room from 4-10 p.m. for an interactive movie and dinner night for up to eight people. Just use the code “KEVIN” at checkout. Baum says this experience will be available until mid-January. (No Wet Bandits allowed.)
As you move throughout the suite, you’ll notice all the various nods to Home Alone. Here, you see the famous Michael Jordan cutout, along with some of Kevin’s boobytraps: the swinging paint can at the door and the fan that blew feathers onto Harry (Joe Pesci).
