In hopes of honoring the memory and life of Ken Glidwell (better known as radio personality and local musician Mr. K, who passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident over Memorial Day weekend last year), a new “band camp” has been set up for area teenagers. The focus of “RocKamp” — underwritten by Glidewell’s family — is to expand young people’s knowledge of music and give them “Rock band” experience beyond “Rock Band,” the video game. —-
The camp — open to those 13-19 (younger kids may participate if they have prior experience) — begins Oct. 5 at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts in Mr. K’s beloved Hamilton. Campers will get together each Monday and Thursday evening this month, concluding with a live performance Halloween. The camp will be led by local musicians/music teachers Pete Davidson and Karl Kerfoot.
