Ventriloquist Dan Horn doesn’t look like he’s been in show business for almost 30 years. Indeed he doesn’t look a day over 30. Does not moving your lips lead to youthful looks? “I don’t know if it’s ventriloquism that keeps you younger, or just laughing,” he ponders. “They say laughter is the best medicine, and I spend a lot of time just laughing. Maybe that’s what keeps you looking younger. I hope so anyway.” The Phoenix native became interested in ventriloquism at the age of 5 when he saw a future Miss America Vonda Van Dyke perform an act in his hometown. In college Horn began performing for friends and it all snowballed from there. “I didn’t really think about if I was any good or not,” he recounts. “I just thought people were having fun. I was having fun, so its seemed like a good enough reason to do it.” Horn performs at The Funny Bone on the Levee Thursday-Sunday. $15-$17.
