Jason Isbell

Jason Isbell

Jason Isbell has become one of the biggest names in Americana, but fans of all sorts have flocked to Isbell’s music, thanks to songwriting talents. After a stint in popular Roots Rock crew Drive-By Truckers, Isbell began his remarkable solo career in 2007. Since then, the Alabama native’s popularity has grown immensely. Isbell has reached career highs recently, beginning with his 2015 album Something More Than Free, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country, Folk and Rock charts, and claimed the No. 6 position on the overall album chart (the album also netted Isbell two Grammys at this year’s ceremony). At the pace he’s going, Isbell will be rockin’ arenas in the near future, as evidenced by his two-night stand at Taft Theatre this week. The Tuesday show is sold out; at press time, tickets for his June 15 show at the venue — with opener Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls — were still available.

8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday (June 15). $28.50-$48.50. Taft Theatre, 317 E. Fifth St., Downtown, tafttheatre.org.
