A new menswear boutique will open next week in Over-the-Rhine.
English on Vine will open Monday at 1429 Vine St., next to Sacred Beast and the FC Cincinnati team shop. The space formerly hosted Ombre Gallery, a contemporary art gallery and jewelry store.
Andrew Turner, a Cleveland transplant with more than 25 years of experience in the men’s clothing industry, said in a press release that he’s decided it was time to fulfill his dream of opening a store of his own after two decades of working for others.
“It became clear to me that there was a gap in the OTR retail mix,” Turner said in the release. “While the district is home to several excellent women’s boutiques, there are limited high-end options for men. Opening my own store has always been a goal of mine, and when this opportunity came along, I knew it was the right time to make it happen.”
With English on Vine, Turner promises elevated everyday menswear for customers seeking a more refined look. The store will feature brands like Jerry Kaye, Wiesmade Denim and Paul Betenly, with a selection that includes sport coats, denim and knitwear. The store will also carry a range of accessories—like shoes, cologne, and pocket squares.
“English on Vine joins a growing group of established boutiques on Vine Street — like Sloane and The Most Beautiful Thing in the World — that have also introduced menswear into their collections, further enhancing the district’s retail offerings,” said Christy Samad, EVP of Civic & Commercial Space Activation for 3CDC in a statement. “As OTR’s shopping scene continues to evolve and diversify, it’s encouraging to see expanded menswear options added to the mix.”
Turner says he ultimately envisions the shop as a “third space” where customers can linger and connect with each other while enjoying the shopping experience. The shop will include a seating area with sofas and chairs, as well as a record player where guests can bring their own vinyl to shop along to.
English on Vine will celebrate its soft opening Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a grand opening on June 6 also from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Following the grand opening, the store’s regular operating hours will be open Tuesday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit their official Instagram page.
