The Recipe

Groovy, acoustic Roots rockin’ band The Recipe have all of the makings of a great “Jam Band.” The Morgantown, West Virginia-based group tours relentlessly, puts out its own CDs, hosts a big festival each year (The Recipe Family Cookout), has a solid fanbase with a cutesy nickname (the “Porch People”), plays with the biggies of the scene, and gets glowing reviews from places like Relix and jambands.com (which aptly called their sound “Appalachian hillbilly Disco”). The band, who spin traditional influences into a highly charged, danceable mix, are currently on the road (where else?) supporting their third release, Geode, which spotlights not only the band’s jammy side, but its strong songwriting abilities as well.

At the BarrelHouse on Friday.
