‘Squeeze It from the Middle’

Several folks commented afterward that Alison Bishop’s show was “cute.” Bishop, the self-described “cougar” who wrote and performed the show’s nine original songs, was accompanied by a very fine upright bass player, Adam Sanreget, who helped move the simple tunes along. Bishop appears to struggle playing a guitar. But that didn’t stop her infectious banter about dating, sex, struggling to be an actor in New York City and her dirty-minded German father. She interspersed stories with tunes, which kept the show moving along. The story and song about buying expensive yoga pants were sweet, and Sanreget chimed in on a few scenarios, which made the show more entertaining.Bishop rambled on too long about the Masters of Sex DVDs that were eventually stolen from her car at a gig. The show could have used about a 10-minute edit, as the last song went on too long. MOTR was a perfect venue for this little show, although a few fans would be a plus to cool it down a bit. Good sound and lighting throughout the show.
