It seems like the scheduling team missed an opportunity with the release of Little Boy, from co-writer (with Pepe Portillo) and director Alejandro Monteverde (Bella), a story bathed in the endearing and enduring love between a father (Michael Rapaport) and a young son (Jakob Salvati) forced apart due to World War II. A great and quite eclectic line-up including Kevin James, Emily Watson, Ben Chaplin and Tom Wilkinson provide able support. Drawing on comedy and drama, with a heaping helping of love and faith, this sentimental gem likely would have caused quite a stir the Friday prior to Father’s Day. (Opens Friday, April 24 at Mariemont Theatre) (PG-13) Not screened in time for review
