A music festival dedicated to experimental music is set to return to downtown Cincinnati in September.

Whited Sepulchre Records, a small-run vinyl and tape label in Cincinnati focused on experimental and ambient music, is hosting the Talk Low Music Festival from Sept. 26-28 at the Contemporary Arts Center and Memorial Hall. The festival is organized by Whited Sepulchre Records founder and Executive Director Ryan Hall, Britni Bicknaver and concertnova Executive Director Brianna Matzke.

The artists performing at the Talk Low Music Festival represent a number of genres, including ambient, jazz, indie rock, electronic and “all the genre shadings in between.” The festival features acts from all over the world (including many from Cincinnati), LA experimental rap group clipping, stage and film star Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Moor Mother pianist Kelly Moran, Cairo-based experimental electronic artist Nadah El Shazly, White Boy Scream and Cole Pulice along with a free performance at the Christ Church Cathedral by organist Sarah Davachi and a special collaborative performance between Yoni Wolf and concertnova.

“Continuing the tradition of festivals like MusicNow and No Response Festival, Talk Low Music Festival aims to make Cincinnati a destination for world-class musicians claiming space between multiple disciplines, genres and identities,” organizers said in a press release. “Talk Low seeks to create unique contexts that foster deep listening and opportunities for collaboration and education.”

Last year, the inaugural festival featured performances by New Age legend Laraaji, Peruvian sound artist Maria Chavez, bassoonist Joy Guidry and Kenyan electronic artist KMRU.
