Oh, God, it’s coming — a winter storm, that is. What did you think we were talking about?
It looks massive (the storm); but will it hit Cincinnati? This week, Accuweather shared an update on a winter storm making its way through the part of the United States, including a forecast that depicted ice accumulation in a rather phallic shape that was moving erectly, er, directly, across the Midwest. So, it does beg the question: Are we about to get fucked?
The short (but size doesn’t matter) answer is probably. Cincinnatians know how dysfunctional the weather is here, so any pronouncement of inches should be called into question. As of Friday, Cincinnati is looking at a 61% chance of snow or more starting Sunday morning into Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. That percentage rises to 76% as you move north to Hamilton and drops to 40% as you go down to Dry Ridge. Wilmington itself has a 69% chance of snow (nice).
According to Accuweather, the Greater Cincinnati area is looking at about 6-10 inches of snow Sunday into Monday; we may also see sleet and freezing rain, so if you need to travel Monday, use caution on the roads.
What is certain is that it will be penetratingly cold this weekend, with highs only reaching 29 and 28 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, and lows at 19 and 23. It’ll be even colder through next week, with temps predicted to dip into the single digits Wednesday through Friday, so make sure you have your protection — gloves, hats, coats, etc.
