Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Angels
Friday – Sunday, Great American Ballpark, downtown
If you haven’t heard, the Reds are actually quite good so far this year. They’re in third place in the National League—just under the Dodgers and the Yankees—and are at the top of their division. They’re also the last team in all of baseball not to commit an error, and this is the Reds’ best start on the road since 1990. (For those of you keeping score at home, the Reds won the World Series that year.) With all that in mind, there’s no better time to head out to GABP and root, root, root for the Redlegs. If that’s not enough, there’s fireworks on Friday and free Noelvi Marte bobbleheads on Saturday.

This patriotic triple billing of ballet at the Aronoff was curated by Cincinnati Ballet’s Artistic Director Cervilio Miguel Amador, a Cuban immigrant, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and the diversity of views that make our country thrive. Justin Peck’s “The Times Are Racing” draws inspiration from a variety of dance styles while matching Dan Deacon’s electronic score with youthful impulse and vigor, Claudia Schreier’s “First Impulse” is a neoclassical style rooted in contemporary ballet concepts, and George Balanchine’s “Serenade” is a milestone in the history of dance—the first original ballet that legendary choreographer George Balanchine created in America.
