The Bicycle Museum of America in New Bremen, Ohio, has partnered with The Church (a space for music and art) in Sag Harbor, New York, where the exhibit originated, to present Cycle Thru! The Art of the Bike.

From Pee-Wee Herman’s classic customized 1953 Schwinn DX Cruiser, as seen in Tim Burton’s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, to a seafoam green 1950s Huffy Radiobike, this exhibit will take visitors through the rich creative history of the bicycle.

“Visitors can ponder the role of the bicycle as an evolving icon, a connector of cultures and a vehicle for autonomy and freedom to all, regardless of age, gender, and geography,” the Cincinnati Art Museum said in a press release.

Contemporary artwork by Jarbas Lopes, Bas Jan Ader and Bari Kumar, along with photographs from CAM’s collection, 1900s female bike wear and artifacts ranging from the 1860s to today will be on display to complement the exhibit.

Cycle Thru! The Art of the Bike will be on display at the Cincinnati Art Museum from April 4- Aug. 24. Tickets are $12, with discounted rates for students, children and seniors. For more information about the exhibit, visit cincinnatiartmuseum.org.
