The sunflowers are in full bloom at Gorman Heritage Farm in Evendale, and they are celebrating this weekend with the 2024 Sunflower Festival.

From 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6, the 122-acre working farm will be devoted to all things sunflowers.

Guests will be able to hop on a hayride or mule-drawn carriage ride, cut their own sunflowers (for $1 per stem), and take plenty of seasonal snapshots and selfies.

In addition to the blooms, Gorman will be offering a corn maze, a pumpkin patch and a chance to meet the farm’s friendly animals.

Food trucks and craft vendors will be lined up on the grounds, and Silverton’s HighGrain Brewing Co. will be serving beer with a Gorman Heritage Farm stainless steel pint glass available for pre-order. Food trucks on site include Jenn’s Hot Tamales, Steak it Eazy, City Belle Fried Pies, Sweets & Meats BBQ and more.

In terms of craft vendors, expect to find everything from handmade jewelry and ceramics to apothecary items and alpaca fleece.

Live music starts at 11 a.m. Saturday with Demi and Doug Kreitzer, Ricky Nye and the Wild Carrot. On Sunday, there will be performances by PineRidge Partners, Them Lasses and the Emerald Creek Trio.

Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at gormanfarms.com. Admission is $15 for adults, $8 ages 3-17 and those 60-plus, and free for kids under 3. Gorman Heritage Farm members can also get in for free but still must register to attend.

The event will be held rain or shine — unless the weather is dangerous.
