You're Invited to a Sing-Along at Smale Riverfront Park for Paul McCartney's Birthday

Cincinnati is planning a special birthday party for Beatles singer Paul McCartney as it continues its quest to woo the superstar into visiting the Queen City.

In honor of McCartney’s 82nd birthday, the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Moerlein Lager House are inviting the public to Smale Riverfront Park the morning of Sunday, June 16 for a community sing-along of The Beatles’ “Good Day Sunshine.” While the event is a celebration of the singer and his contributions to music, it’s also an invitation for McCartney to come to the Cincinnati Opera’s world stage premiere of his Liverpool Oratorio at Music Hall this July.

“Imagine the excitement of welcoming McCartney back to Cincinnati, this time for the Cincinnati Opera! By gathering in song and celebration, we hope to create an invitation that he can’t resist. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to his music, this is an event everyone can enjoy!” organizers said in a press release.

The sing-along will take place at 9 a.m. on the Great Lawn, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring friends and family. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a free ticket to the Butterfly Show at the Krohn Conservatory. Moerlein Lager House will also give gift certificates for a discount at the restaurant to everyone in attendance.

Guests are also encouraged to share videos and photos of the event on social media, using the hashtag #GetPaultoMusicHall.
