An adventure film festival that puts women and gender-non-conforming athletes and storytellers at the forefront is returning to Cincinnati.

Local nonprofit Adventure Crew is bringing the No Man’s Land Film Festival (NMLFF) to MadTree Parks & Rec on Wednesday, March 26. The evening kicks off with a social hour from 6-7 p.m. with the films to follow. The films will focus on outdoor themes, like climbing, winter sports and conservation.

“Adventure Crew rarely invites people to sit down, inside, and watch a screen, but the No Man’s Land Film Festival is a worthy exception,” Miriam Wise, Adventure Crew’s director of support and engagement, said in a press release. “The lineup of films promises excitement, joy and maybe even a few tears as viewers experience the amazing adventure feats and human stories of these incredible explorers.”

NMLFF is based in Denver and is in its tenth year. Its mission is to “un-define feminine” in adventure, sports and film and serve as an international voice for the underrepresented, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.

“We are not your average film festival,” said NMLFF Executive Director Kathy Karlo. “While we hold firm to some mainstream elements, the stories we share embody a radical vision of hope and change.”

Despite the name, NMLFF says they want to encourage everyone to attend. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and the price includes the film viewings and movie snacks. You can purchase those here.

Proceeds from the Cincinnati event will go toward Adventure Crew, which helps city teens connect with nature.
