MadTree Brewing, on Madison Road, will turn into a pop-up planetarium on April 30.

The Cincinnati Observatory’s event will feature shows inside an inflatable planetarium, Jupiter-themed crafts and activities for children, and a closing “Drunk Astronomy” session with observatory astronomer Dr. Wes Ryle. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ryle described the drunk astronomy session as the Cincinnati Observatory’s version of “Drunk History.

“I’m going to sit back and have a couple of drinks, and kind of open the floor for Q and A for folks’ questions about astronomy,” Ryle said. “I found that those kinds of sessions where it’s just really people asking what they’re interested in.”

The event, which will take place in the brewery’s barrel room, will be a first in a series of pop-up planetarium events, allowing people to view the sky without worrying about cloud coverage and become more familiar with the Cincinnati Observatory.

“We’re clouded out quite frequently at the observatory, just because Cincinnati has about a 50-50 chance of having clear skies,” Ryle said. “But with the inflatable planetarium, we always have the opportunity to show things regardless of the weather.”

Tickets: $10/person, $30/family (children under 4 free)
