The Cincinnati Reds beat the San Francisco Giants 8-3 on Jackie Robinson Day.

Rhett Lowder got the win with help from relievers Brock Burke, Graham Ashcroft, and Pierce Johnson. The Reds bats came alive early in the game with home runs by star rookie Sal Stewart (two), Eugenio Suarez, and Elly De La Cruz. Both of Stewart’s home runs came with two runners on base for a total of six RBIs.

Sal leads the Reds with six homers and 17 RBIs this season. Rhett Lowder pitched 6 2/3 innings, a career-long outing, with three earned runs charged against him. Former Red Tyler Mahle took the loss for the Giants.
