Owner Tez Yohannes opened Fùl Café’s doors for the first time on the morning of June 16 at 8 a.m. at 2115 West 8th Street.

The café’s signature dish, the Fùl Fava Platter, features fava beans seasoned with herbs and spices, served with your choice of toppings and warm pita. The drink menu includes handcrafted coffees, teas and traditional beverages, including coffee brewed in an authentic Jebena, prepared fresh with ginger. Jebenas are handcrafted clay coffee pots used in Ethiopia and Eritrea to brew and serve the hot beverage.

“Opening Fùl Café is about creating a welcoming space where people from across the city can gather, share in our culture and traditions and experience something new,” Yohannes said.

He was able to open the café thanks to local nonprofit Community Matters, which partnered with Yohannes to provide technical assistance and support key aspects of the café’s build-out and equipment purchases.

“Fùl Café is a strong example of what can happen when local entrepreneurs have access to the resources and support they need to bring their ideas to life,” said Mary Delaney, Executive Director of Community Matters. “Investments like this contribute to a more vibrant community-led commercial corridor and strengthen the social infrastructure of the neighborhood.”

Fùl Café will be open 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit the cafe’s official Instagram page.
