MAMMOTH Music & Arts Festival will return to downtown Newport for its third year on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The free festival will run from noon to 8 p.m. outdoors, with music continuing inside the Southgate House Revival until 11 p.m.
Too Many Zooz, a New York City trio that blends jazz, electronic music and punk, will headline this year’s festival. The lineup also includes Dale Watson, Nat Myers, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Laid Back Country Picker, FreekBass, Jess Lamb & Siri Imani, The Turkeys, Dallas Moore, Falls City Boys, 2-22’s, Sunday Fed Creek Birds and Black Signal.
The Jockey Club Takeover will return to the Southgate House Revival’s Lounge, hosted by Aurore Press’ Chucky Byrd. Performers include The Tigerlilies, The Carradines, Coffin Dodgers, Disturbance, Ric Hickey Trio, Juan Electro and Plush Machine. The event will also feature books and poster art connected to the area’s punk scene.
“The city is excited for a third successful year of the Mammoth Music Festival,” Newport City Manager John Hayden said in a press release. “The event brings people of all ages and walks of life to historic Monmouth Street for a great time and even better music.”
This year’s festival will expand farther south on Monmouth Street, with additional space for artists. Other features include an expanded “Kids and Family Zone,” a new “Merchants Corner” for local vendors, the New Riff Bourbon Lounge and a Red Bull DJ Truck and a “Fan Activation Zone.”
The Brighton Center “Thrifters” Fashion Show, a new addition this year, will begin at 11:30 a.m. before the festival.
MAMMOTH events will also take place at participating Newport businesses on Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3.
Admission is free. A limited number of $100 VIP packages are also available and include a bottle of MAMMOTH Select Single Barrel New Riff Bourbon, an event poster, access to a VIP area and other merchandise.
For the second year, the festival’s MAMMOTH Gives Back program will benefit Newport High School’s Creative Arts Program. A portion of sponsorships and donations will go to the program, with the remainder supporting festival operations.
