CityBeat is partnering with A Picture’s Worth, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit that helps people tell their own stories through photography and audio. The organization focuses on community-driven storytelling that adds context, personality and lived experience to the places and people it highlights.
As part of the partnership, CityBeat will be sharing select stories from A Picture’s Worth projects around the region. Here, Becky Tiffini Carter shares her story of the Avondale community.

“I am choosing to tell my Avondale story— because when I relocated back to Cincinnati—which was a surprise in itself, I never imagined returning back to Avondale where I was born and raised. So, it’s been a very full circle experience coming back as an adult, coming back as the head librarian, and seeing people that I knew as a child, frequenting streets that I used to walk down and play.”
