Sacred Beast
1437 Vine St., Over-the-Rhine
This contemporary Over-the-Rhine diner opened with much hype in 2018 and has been a brunch staple in the trendy neighborhood ever since. “Simple food. Taken seriously” is the motto for Sacred Beast. The menu is a collection of chef Jeremy Lieb’s favorite things which run the gamut from literally the best French-style omelet in town — fluffy, soft and full of goat cheese and piquillo peppers — to a “Diner Breakfast” with scrambled eggs, maple-glazed pork belly and lemon ricotta pancakes. For those with a sweet tooth, try the heavenly Bread Pudding French Toast, served with maple syrup and whipped cream. Or, you can also go the vintage breakfast route with some corned beef hash and poached eggs. Photo: facebook.com/SacredBeastDinerPhoto: Emerson SwogerCincy Gourmet Deli
2832 Jefferson Ave., Corryville
This deli is just steps away from the University of Cincinnati and offers a variety of eats ranging from tacos and paninis to burgers and shawarma. There are also lighter options, including avocado toast, a veggie omelet, a bagel with cream cheese and a handful of smoothie options. Photo: doordash.comSantorini Family Restaurant
3414 Harrison Ave., Cheviot
There’s some magic in sitting in an old-school diner booth or at the counter and enjoying a simple but tasty breakfast. West Side Greek diner Santorini Family Restaurant is full of this kind of charm, plus you won’t go wrong with anything on the menu. In addition to its delicious gyros, burgers, double deckers and Greek-style chili (which we all know means Cincinnati-style chili), Santorini also can whip you up a satisfying breakfast any time of day. Get a protein-packed meal with one of their egg combos or omelets, or go to “The Fluffy Stuff” side of the menu for some French toast or hot cakes. If you’re not completely stuffed (or you want to try a little dessert for breakfast, no judgment), try one of their Greek pastries or cobbler. Photo: Lydia SchembreThe Governor
231 Main St., Milford
With subway tile, industrial decor and a walk-up window, Milford’s trendy The Governor is the diner of the modern era, with a contemporary menu to match. But true to its diner roots, The Governor offers all-day breakfast, including a fun invention called the “fromelette” (basically a giant frittata). Breakfast dishes range from lighter options, like the Greek Yogurt Parfait and Baked Feta to fill-your-belly, get-messy delights like the John Dandy (thick-cut brioche French toast, ham steak, Swiss cheese, sunny eggs and Dandy Sauce) and the Big Ohio (grilled potato roll, a cheesy folded omelet, house pastrami, hash brown and maple Thousand Island dressing). 3005 Colerain Ave., Cincinnati
Named one of the “10 Best Restaurants in Cincinnati” by USA Today, there’s no question as to why Camp Washington Chili has been operating since 1940. It is good eats! Despite having ‘chili’ in the name, this establishment offers many chili-free options, including burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, fries, coleslaw and salad.

9039 US-42, Union
Nothing seems to be more representative of a Southern-style breakfast than the humble biscuit — a vehicle for everything from jam and butter to fried chicken and eggs — but Boomtown Biscuits & Whiskey’s signature biscuit isn’t your run-of-mill, thousand-layer, flaked baked good. It’s a buttery, soft disk with a close crumb and a browned, lightly bubbled top that no breakfast chain can compete with. Order the Gold Shoes to get this delightful biscuit topped with delicious sawmill, peppercorn, mushroom, Creole or goetta gravy. And for a classic breakfast dish with a South American twist, try the Steak & Eggs, which features marinated steak, eggs, chipotle bacon Brussels sprouts and chimichurri.
