Buddy Age: 8-9 Years Old / Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Save Our Shelter Dogs “Buddy came to us under very sad circumstances. He is a very sweet 8-9 year old mix. He had severe dental disease and has had all of his teeth removed. He can be a little shy starting off, but warms up quickly. He doesn’t like sudden moves or being grabbed at so a home with older children would be best. He would also like to be the only pet. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He tested negative for Heartworm and has been kept on Heartgard and Frontline. His adoption fee is $200 plus 6% KY sales tax. Please email saveourshelterdogs4@yahoo.com for more information and an application.” Photo: Save Our Shelter Dogs
Smiley Age: 7 Years Old / Breed: Jack Russell Terrier & Rat Terrier Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Furgotten Dog Rescue, Inc. “Smiley is a 7-year-old Jack Russel Terrier mix weighing 21 pounds. (She could loose a few pounds). She was rescued from a rural KY shelter. Smiley is a big sweetheart and loves cuddles! When she meets her parents, she will immediately make herself at home! She bonds quickly, but seems to pick ‘her person.’ Smiley is dog-friendly, but wouldn’t mind being an only dog. She does like to play every so often but it doesn’t last long so she would need a low maintenance buddy just like her. No young energetic dogs. Smiley is good with new people and teenage kids! NO YOUNG CHILDREN (12+ only). She has not been tested with cats, but we think she’d be ok. She is house and crate trained.” Photo: Furgotten Dog Rescue, Inc.
Jasper Age: 10 Years Old / Breed: Chihuahua / Sex: Male / Rescue: Chihuahua Rescue & Transport Inc. “Wanted: An experienced chihuahua owner with a little extra love, willing to completely spoil me! I’m Jasper, a five-pound, ten-year-old male chihuahua, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on my heartworm medication. I’m a lover in search of a soulmate! Could you be my perfect match? I can be a bit of a shy guy at first, but one of my favorite things is to be kissed and petted! When you approach me, I may do a nervous little dance, but I’ll quickly let you pick me up and give me the attention I crave. When you stroke my soft, silky fur, I will lean lovingly into your hand. You won’t ever want to stop petting me, and that’s totally fine with me! It may take some time for me to get attached to you, but once I do, I will be your shadow and constantly ask for cuddles and pets! My first ten years have been lonely. I was owned by a backyard breeder who didn’t give me the socialization or attention I needed. I wasn’t taught potty training skills, but I’ve almost gotten it mastered and do great on a schedule! I’m comfortable using potty pads or going outdoors. I also don’t have many teeth left, so I’ll need soft food to eat. I’ll need to be in a home with no children, but–while I’d love to be the only dog in your life–I’m open to having some doggy siblings. I have a couple of medical issues that will require you to keep a close eye on me. The vet says my heart is starting to enlarge, but I don’t have any signs of heart failure and don’t need to be on medication. I also am recovering from a broken jaw after my dental cleaning, but I haven’t had any trouble with eating or drinking, and the vet is pleased with how it’s healing.” Photo: Chihuahua Rescue & Transport Inc.
Panache Age: Senior / Breed: Domestic Long Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Panache is a beautiful, quiet, low energy senior cat who came to Saap after her owner passed away. She likes gentle petting and can food with gravy. She would be happiest in a quiet home as an only pet or with another senior cat that would give her space. She is litter box trained and enjoys looking out a sunny window. She does require brushing to keep her fur mat free but is sweet and low key!All SAAP animals are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventative as age appropriate.” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Cedric Age: 11 Years Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Sweet Dream House Rescue “Cedric is about 11 years old. He is very much content to have a warm lap and someone to talk too. He does not like other cats, they give him anxiety and stress. He would do best in a quiet household with no other cats or boisterous dogs. Thomas lost his previous home when the new cat began picking on him and he started having behavioral problems. Since he has been out of that environment he has done very well, he is very affectionate, loves to be carried and held. This senior gentleman really deserves a quiet home with someone who can appreciate his quiet nature.” Photo: Sweet Dream House Rescue
Boo Boo Age: Senior / Breed: Pomeranian & Chihuahua Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Mercy Rescue and Adoption “Boo Boo is the cutest little guy who lets you know what he wants by barking until he gets it. He’s not a constant barker but will make his needs known. He was just neutered and had all vetting including a dental. He may need to wear a male wrap in the home so he doesn’t mark. He loves attention. His buddy Peanut would love to be adopted with him. Needs a home with children 12 and over. He is fully vetted, microchipped, and on all preventions. His adoption fee is $200.00 to be considered for adoption please complete an application on our website (this must be completed before we schedule any visits).” Photo: Mercy Rescue and Adoption
Peanut Age: Senior / Breed: Chihuahua / Sex: Male / Rescue: Mercy Rescue and Adoption “Peanut is a darling little guy with a big personality. He is doing well on potty training after being neutered. He may have to wear a male wrap so he doesn’t mark in his new home. He has been fully vetted and had a dental in January. He had a low grade mast cell tumor with a long survival time. The growth was removed on his leg which could return. He is really a sweet boy. He and Boo Boo have been together a long time if they could be adopted together. No small children under 12 considered.” Photo: Mercy Rescue and Adoption
Missy Age: 11 Years Old / Breed: Calico & Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Purrfect Friends “MISSY, a beautiful calico, likes to give kitty kisses! Tragically, she lost her dad when he died unexpectedly & she was in their home for several days without any one, devastated at the loss of her ‘daddy.’ The family didn’t want her and she ended up with a good samaritan who gave her the time and patience for her to adjust to a new life. It was slow in the beginning but Missy has blossomed into an amazing girl! You’d never know her age by how she acts (she’s 11 years young). She’s very loving and very kitten-like. She loves human attention, but she also loves to be a Silly Willy and play like crazy!” Photo: Purrfect Friends
Twinkle Age: Senior / Breed: Pomeranian Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Twinkle is a Pomeranian mix in search of his forever home. He’s a playful boy and still very active. He would do best in a home without small children since he can be nippy if a child tries to grab him or take his food away. Apply to make this beautiful boy yours at adoptastray.com. All SAAP animals are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventative as age appropriate.” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Terrell Age: 7 Years Old / Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Francis Kennels Rescue “f you’re looking for a handsome boy, you’ve found him! Terrell is short, stocky, & laid back. Background: Terrell was found as a local stray. He stayed at a vets office for a few months before coming to us. They got him fattened back up and even took care of his vetting. Age: The vet is thinking he’s around 7 years old. Size: Terrell is around 70-80 lbs but is short and thick. Coat: Terrell has short hair but does shed. He will need bathed every few weeks. Energy Level: Terrell is pretty laid back. Definitely enjoys his comfort and loves laying in bed. After he goes outside to do his business he’s ready for a nap. Medical Info: Terrell has been vaccinated, heartworm tested, neutered, & microchipped. He does not currently take any medications for any conditions, besides his monthly heartworm prevention.” Photo: Francis Kennels Rescue
Tabitha Age: Senior / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: OAR “Do you love being greeted with a medley of purrs? Tabitha is the perfect package–an affectionate lady who is easy to purr but will also spend time on her own getting a few cat naps in! This girl prefers to go slow with introductions, but that quickly changes when she knows she is safe and sound with her person. Pets, spooning, and scouting out perfect nap spots are her favorite things. Tabitha has diabetes, but she’s a wonderful patient, making it very easily managed by insulin shots and a special diet. (She also has a love for her wet food to be warm!) Tabitha is currently in a foster home waiting for you!” Photo: OAR
Blake Age: 9 Years Old / Breed: Lab Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Blake is a 9 year old lab mix with the best grey muzzle. He is a bit timid at first meeting, but does great when you take him for a short walk and let him warm up to you. He is house trained and crate trained and was best behaved at our open adoption event! Blake was recently returned to us for no longer getting along with the other dogs in the home so he would love to have his people all to himself! If interested, please apply to meet this senior guy!” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Old Red Age: Senior / Breed: Hound / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Old Red has been in foster care for 9 months and hoping to find a forever home where he can play with his stuffies in the yard and chew his bones in the house He may have a grey face but he is full of youthful fun. Red takes a heart pill twice a day with his meal without fuss. He enjoys taking walks and chewing bones. Old Red would do best as an only dog so he doesn’t have to share his toys. Apply to meet him now!All SAAP animals are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventative as age appropriate.” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Mandragora Age: Senior / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: OAR “Fuzzy diva seeks worshipful servants to provide the perfect amount of requested pats, tender morsels and fresh water on demand! Crown and throne preferred but not required! This fancy lady prefers her water SUPER fresh. All she wants is a home with a dripping faucet (or a sufficiently well trained human who will turn it on for her as needed), a nice soft bed, and lots and lots and lots of pets. If you think you could accommodate lovely Miss Mandy, just fill out a questionnaire on our website and we’ll get you scheduled!” Photo: OAR
Poppy Age: 11.5 Years Old / Breed: Pomeranian & Rat Terrier Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Hi! My name is Poppy aka Pops, Pop pop, Boppy. I am an 11.5 year old, 14 pound, male Pomeranian/Rat terrier mix. I came to SAAP with a skin infection after my elderly owner had to go to a nursing home. I am great in my crate at night and when you leave to go to run errands or work. I am ok with other dogs but I’m a little bit bossy. Female dogs are better than males. I like to be the only boy. I will tell you how happy I am to see you when you get home and alert you to any intruders. In other words, I will bark a low tone bark. I don’t think my previous owner knew when I needed to go potty so I sometimes mark my territory (especially when another boy dog is in my home). No small children should be in my home as I am not tolerant of those shenanigans. Older children are fine and I need a secure, physical fence around my yard.” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Rocky 2 Age: Senior / Breed: Rottweiler / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Rocky is a big, silly guy that will sometimes still play like a puppy, a very obedient puppy! He weighs around 110 pounds and doesn’t always realize his strength and power. He loves his cozy dog bed, soft blankets, treats, riding in the car, going for walks, attention and butt scratches from his people, and toys. He loves playing fetch and tug. It’s so cute when he gets giddy, gallops around, and is super happy- he has the best smile. He makes really adorable sounds when you get home, he wants to do something, or he’s just really excited- sometimes like Chewbacca. Rocky would do best as an only dog. This guy really likes to take baths- he can be found sitting pretty in the bathroom or even standing in the bathtub looking at the faucet wondering why the water is not coming out when he wants it to. He would do better in a home without kids or one with older kids that understand his boundaries. He is wonderfully housebroken and crate trained. Rocky has been through professional training, so is great on a leash, knows heel, auto-sit, sit, down, stay, and head and hand motions. His adoption will include sessions with his trainer. Most importantly, he needs a patient person or family that gives him space to get used to his new people. It is well worth the wait though because he makes the best companion once he trusts you and knows you respect his boundaries. He can be nervous around strangers and doesn’t like to be touched/reached for by strangers straight away upon meeting them. He is such a loving creature to his people, extremely handsome, and provides endless laughter, smiles and entertainment!” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Memphis Age: 13 Years Old / Breed: Russian Blue & Domestic Short Hair Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Purrfect Friends “Memphis is a beautiful, solid grey Russian Blue-ish cat, very people friendly & outgoing – greets visitors and is very comfortable with new people! He was adopted 8 years ago but sadly, due to the health of the owner, needs to find a new home . He had gotten quite heavy in his home but we got him to a nice weight at 12.5 pounds. He looks good. His owner had contacted us because of her health, but then Memphis had issues. She treated him at first then in a panic, abandoned him at our vet. She gave up on him but we did not! We took him in and have been treating him for suspected mega colon….however he is doing great. He is on 2 medications and has been quite “regular.” He gets wet food and loves his temptation treats. He just recently had a dental and had 3 teeth removed….he feels much better now we think! He loves the laser light and even plays with toys. Such a good boy! Memphis was born spring of 2008. He first came to us back in December of 2011 because of a foreclosure, and now again, because the owner gave up on him. He is a big, laid back boy! Back when we first had him he was ok with some dogs and was not a great fan of other cats. But since he has lived with a cat for awhile, he seems just fine. In his foster home he is with several cats and does well…but always humans are his first love. He is so social and sweet….he cannot get enough petting. So LOVING!! He just wants somebody to love….he just needs somebody to love!” Photo: Purrfect Friends
Haze Age: Senior / Breed: Siamese / Sex: Male / Rescue: OAR “Haze is such a handsome guy with the most mesmerizing eyes! This curious boy loves to check everything out and greet people. Haze would be fine living with other cats with proper introductions, but he would prefer a household without dogs. If you’re interested in meeting Haze, fill out a questionnaire today!” Photo: OAR
Kody Age: Senior / Breed: German Shepherd / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Meet Kody, a senior dog with puppy qualities. He loves hotdogs, rolling around on the floor, and stare contests. Since I’ve had him, he has been excellent with other dogs and would make a great companion for you and your other pets. Kody loves to be around people and would do best somewhere with a friend for company or backyard to explore during periods without human contact.” Photo: Stray Animal Adoption Program
Brownie Age: 12 Years Old / Breed: Siberian Husky / Sex: Male / Rescue: Humane Society of Adams County Inc. “Brownie is a mature, gorgeous purebred Siberian Husky Dog. He is 12 years old. He was rescued from a breeding operation in Adams County where he lived in an outdoor kennel building most of his life. We recommend that he be the only dog in the home with no small animals. He has shown aggression toward other dogs at the animal shelter, and other dogs from the same location have a very high prey drive, which means that they would likely pose a danger to cats and other small animals. Brownie has been treated for Lyme disease and he has Grade II Periodonatl disease from lack of dental care and old age. He will be neutered once he has an approved adoption application. Brownie’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored. He is FREE with an approved adoption application. To adopt Brownie, please complete an adoption questionnaire here: https://www.adamscountyanimals.org/adoptionsIf you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!” Photo: Humane Society of Adams County Inc.
Kazumi Age: Senior / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: OAR “Kazumi is an absolute beauty with her mesmerising, luminous eyes, and her personality is just as beautiful! This gentle lady is super affectionate and loving. She’s looking for a human with excellent petting and snuggling skills. Kazumi especially loves claiming a sleepy spot on your bed, so she can cuddle up with you. She loves being spoiled with wet food, which she prefers to dry kibble.” Photo: OAR
Mia Age: 11 Years Old / Breed: Chow Chow & Shepherd Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary “Mia is a sweet senior gal who is looking for a fenced in yard in her new home. She loves to run and play. Mia is 11 years young but likes to stay active. She gets along with other dogs and is great on car rides. To adopt her go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit your application. You can also call or text 765-969-4782 for more information.” Photo: Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary
Mimi Age: Senior / Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary “Mimi is a diva dog for sure. She wants things how she wants them. Though she lives with other dogs currently she would prefer a home where she is the center of attention. If you had one minion for her to boss around that might be ok too but she is a bit picky. She is quite the looker and shows off for the boys. Mimi is spayed so she can flirt all she wants. Through a fence she is a guard dog but as soon as you open the gate she’s like ‘naw, I was just kidding ya’ll’ She really is a love. Her favorite thing to do with volunteers is cuddling on the couch while watching Netflix on their phones. She likes dramas the best. Mimi lets you dress her up in clothes and take as many pictures as you want. She knows she is cute. If your looking for a supermodel dog go to www.libertyacresunited.com and submit an application.” Photo: Liberty Acres United Rescue Animal Sanctuary
Fransis Age: 14 Years Old / Breed: Tuxedo / Sex: Female / Rescue: AAPCATS “This sweet spay is a complimentary listing… about 14 years old. His owner has another cat and found Francis. They said it is a nice cat, independent, not a lap cat.” Photo: AAPCATS
Cory Age: 16 Years Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair & Tiger Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: AAPCATS “She is about 16 years old. She will need time to learn to trust new people. Once she dose, she loves to be petted. Her owner was in a nursing home and when taken by family friends…they found she is afraid of all other cats. They put her outside and eventually called the rescue. She has a heart murmur. She has to be the only cat. She would do better in a low activity home. In our foster home she has to be isolated by herself because of other foster cats that she is afraid of. She trust people, but until she knows you, she still fears being picked up and carried… She will need time and patience…but will be a very sweet girl as she is here and we were told she was in her original home.” Photo: AAPCATS
