If you’re serious about making this life step, adopting a pet is very rewarding — for you and the pet that gets a new home.

We’ve compiled a list of available pets from a few local adoption programs to help you on your mission of finding the pet that’s right for you. Roxie Age: 11 Years / Breed: Rat Terrier Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Louie’s Legacy “Meet Roxie, an 11 year old Rat Terrier mix! This girl doesn’t let her age slow her down!! Although she mostly enjoys laying on the couch for belly rubs, she still has some spunk! She like to chase mini tennis balls and stuffed squeaky toys. She also enjoys short walks! At only 12 lbs, Roxie is very much a lap dog. She is a little shy and lacks some confidence so a family with another laid back dog to help her come out of her shell is preferred. He’s definitely not a couch potato! He loves to go for walks, gets along with small dogs but is very bossy with large dogs. He’s fine with cats. He loves to lay on your lap but is content to find a soft spot to lay by himself. Dobby likes to be near you when you want to shower him with attention and is perfectly happy to entertain himself when you’re busy. Michael Age: 10 Years / Breed: American Eskimo Dog / Sex: Male / Rescue: Ohio American Eskimo Rescue “We took from a high kill shelter, here in Ohio. He joined us back in December in really rough shape. We are not sure, but who ever dumped him totally neglected our boy. He had tumors removed, all benign, a much needed dental ( only lost a few teeth) and a severe ear and skin infection. He has the best foster Mom and Dad that nursed him back to health. Remy Age: Senior / Breed: Chihuahua / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program “Remy is a sweet, senior gentleman. He’s a happy, lap dog that loves to burrow under the covers and snuggle up with his people. He’s good about going outside to potty and uses potty pads on the coldest and hottest days. He is crate trained and will sleep quietly in his crate after protesting for a few minutes although he doesn’t need to be crated and he prefers to sleep in bed close to his people or on his dog bed buried under lots of covers.
