Right in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Washington Park is a wonderful place to spend a family afternoon. The fenced playground centers around a play castle, with a climbing wall, slides, and musical instruments rounding out the fun. Summer visitors shouldn’t miss the splash pad, a favorite among younger kids. Beyond the park itself, plenty of nearby restaurants make it easy to grab a meal, and free concerts and community events pop up regularly throughout the year.

Stretching along the riverfront, this expansive park offers a striking blend of natural scenery and city energy. Families can stroll along the water, watch barges and boats drift by, and then let the kids loose at the PNC Grow Up Great Adventure Playground — packed with slides, climbing elements, a rock wall and plenty more. When temperatures rise, the spray ground draws a crowd of younger visitors eager to cool off.

Hidden inside one of Cincinnati’s most scenic parks is a playground so good it almost feels like a secret. Located in the Tom Jones Commons and built from earthy, natural materials that blend into the landscape, the structure is less a “playground” and more a woodland adventure waiting to happen, featuring a faux treehouse, rope bridges, branch-rung ladders and tree-trunk steps. It also sits next to a duck pond, sculptures and big, shady trees made for post-adventure lounging. This area is one of a kind and absolutely worth hunting down.
