After taking two years off due to the pandemic, the Germania Society of Cincinnati is hosting its 50th Oktoberfest this weekend — the event’s first time back since 2019.
Self-proclaimed as “Cincinnati’s original and most authentic Oktoberfest,” this event promises tons of German food, German music, German merchandise and, of course, German beer.
There will be an area devoted to kids, with a playground and free inflatables, while adults enjoy games like a beer mug-sliding competition and a masskrugstemmen — or stein-holding — contest.
Buy imported goods, drink imported beer from the likes of Bitburger and Weihenstephaner and gorge on Oktoberfest chicken and hand-rolled sauerkraut balls.
Musical acts, including Alp’n Echoes, Polka Warriors and the Prost Band will perform throughout the weekend, with entertainment from the Donauschwaben Dancers and the Enzian Dancers.
Note: This event is cashless. Please bring your credit card. You must purchase pre-paid parking if you want to park on-site. Otherwise, a shuttle will run from satellite parking lots at Vinoklet Winery, Pleasant Run Middle School and Elda Elementary School.
Germania Society Oktoberfest takes place 6-11 p.m. Aug. 26, 2-11 p.m. Aug. 27 and noon-7 p.m. Aug. 28. Admission is $5 at the gate and free for those under 12 and veterans (with current ID).
