ArtsWave, Cincinnati’s go-to distributor of arts funding and education, has announced that they are ready to receive applications for its Boardway Bound program.

The course, which started in 2004, prepares local artists and community organizers for positions on arts organization boards across the region. More than 500 individuals have graduated from the acclaimed program, according to Ryan Strand, ArtsWave’s vice president of marketing and communications.

“Boardway Bound helps future local leaders discover new ways to connect and make a difference through the arts,” Alecia Kintner, president and CEO of ArtsWave, added. “Participants gain practical leadership experience while helping strengthen the organizations that make our region vibrant and connected.”

Classes are set to run from Oct.22 to Dec. 10, including seven in-person sessions at ArtsWave’s office, located at 20 E Central Parkway, Suite 200. Accepted students will learn boardroom skills like nonprofit governance, fundraising, and leadership. They’ll also have the chance to meet and learn directly from active members of arts boards throughout Cincinnati’s arts scene.

The eight-week course culminates in what Strand calls a “speed dating finale,” where the program’s students will be matched and placed with an arts board based on mutual interest and fit.

William Stonecipher, a senior project manager at Fifth Third Bank, said, “This experience has really shown me how valuable the Boardway Bound program is. As a non-arts professional, I can now see just how much these incredible organizations benefit from strong business skills in support of their missions.”

Boardway Bound applications are currently being accepted until June 30, and accepted participants will be notified by July 31. Tuition is $1,250.00 and due September 1, though a limited number of scholarships are available. Those interested in a scholarship opportunity should email boardwaybound@artswave.org for more information.
