During the coronavirus quarantine, many folks missed out on celebrations they would have ordinarily enjoyed throughout the spring. And so to make up for lost time — and with social distancing at the forefront of the event — Bellevue is throwing a city-wide party.
The Northern Kentucky neighborhood is celebrating their love for “all life on earth” with Celebration: Earthlings from noon-10 p.m. on July 25.
Hosted by Darkness Brewing, the socially distant and “virus aware” event will span Fairfield Avenue and various businesses throughout the city.
It’s not just a party for the sake of partying, though. The event will raise funds for the Bellevue Education Foundation, so you’re basically drinking for our youth’s future.
According to an email from co-founder of Darkness Brewing Ron Sanders, the event will include 6-feet away face painting, an air-hug and air-kissing booth, special guest appearances, live music and art, and plant and animal costume contests.
The organizers have initiatives in place to ensure the safety of the event-goers, including asking folks to “go with the traffic” of the avenue when walking on sidewalks and encouraging guests to wear masks as well as having them available for purchase at beer tents throughout the event. There will also be staff members designated to disinfect and ensure social distancing and four spread-out outdoor Port-o-lets to avoid large gatherings.
Darkness will also be celebrating its four year anniversary with special beer releases, which will be available at six additional locations throughout the event. Sanders says that all but one of the beer locations is outdoors. A map will be released later this week.
The entire party will be located within the Bellevue Entertainment District, which means visitors (over the age of 21) can take their drinks to go as they venture through the block party. All beers poured during the event will be poured into a BED cup, and cups will be disposed of between every beverage for safety purposes.
