Gut-wrenchingly poignant poet Rupi Kaur is bringing a new spoken word experience to the Taft Theatre on Dec. 3, 2022.

If you aren’t familiar with the work of bestseller Kaur — including her self-published collection milk and honey, which she released when she was just 21 (she’s now 29) — you might have seen snippets of her poetry and illustration on friends’ Instagram accounts. Her work explores love, mental health, trauma, growth, femininity and the general complexities of life through words and line drawings with sentiments that hit at the core of the human experience (and are frequently shared and reposted).

Her tour will feature original music and projections, according to a release, as Kaur “engages audiences through personal stories and humor, lifts hearts in the spirit of a gospel singer, and enthralls all through her unique theatrical presence.”

Kaur will also perform unpublished works and her “greatest hits,” as the release calls them, from milk and honey, the sun and her flowers and home body. Her latest collection, home body, was released in 2020 and was a No. 1 bestseller across the world. She has sold more than 8 million copies of her poetry collections and has been translated into more than 40 different languages.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Dec. 3 at ticketmaster.com and the Taft Theatre box office.
