To Coney, With Love, a book of memories collected by Katy Mark and Rob Lowe and published by Briton Publishing, is set to be released on Nov. 1.
Coney Island began its journey in 1886 as an amusement park and added on Sunlite Pool in 1925, and over the years became a beloved entertainment fixture for Cincinnati natives and out-of-towners.
The closure of Cincinnati’s Coney Island and Sunlite Pool in December brought about many emotions from the public, especially after the announcement that the former amusement and water park would be transformed into a new venue following its purchase by Music and Event Management Inc. (MEMI).
MEMI announced in late December that the $118 million “first of its kind” music venue would be directly next to Cincinnati’s Riverbend and PNC Pavilion, both well known music venues in the Greater Cincinnati area.
The book, To Coney, With Love, was announced in March of this year with a call to the public to contribute their own memories of Coney Island to be included the book. With Mark being a former group sales executive at Coney Island and Lowe being the son of Bob Lowe, a captain of the guards for 50 years, the two hold Coney Island near and dear to their hearts.
Now, months later, To Coney, With Love features stories from grandparents and couples who met at Coney Island to memorable rides and first-job experiences that Cincinnatians cherish.
The book will be available for purchase at online booksellers nationwide on Nov. 1, with the first book signing on Nov. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse. The times and locations of all the book signings can be viewed at britonpublishing.com.
