Last spring, millions of people around the world tuned in to virtually meet and learn about the exotic and beloved animals at the Cincinnati Zoo.
Home Safaris got its start at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, when the Zoo was forced to temporarily close due to social distancing regulations.
Now, roughly one year later, Home Safaris is returning for the entire month of February to continue to allow fans the chance to keep up with their favorite zoo residents.
“Since it’s cold outside and many of our fans and followers live in other states and countries, we decided to offer a special winter Home Safari series that will kick off on February 1,” the Zoo’s communications director Michelle Curley says in an email.
Tune in at 1 p.m. live on Facebook each day for exciting updates, including an undisclosed pregnancy announcement and behind-the-scenes visits with some of the Zoo’s wildest residents.
Viewers will even get to meet the Zoo’s newest ostrich Myrtle and check in with Hudo the Komodo dragon after his double cataract surgery.
“Millions of people all over the world enjoyed our 2020 virtual Home Safari series, so we thought it would be great to offer them again so they could see what their favorite animals are up to and meet some new ones,” said Cincinnati Zoo director Thane Maynard in a release.
All past and future Home Safaris can also be accessed on the Zoo’s YouTube channel.
