Last year, the pandemic heavily affected almost every industry, including the amusement park industry. Cincinnati’s local park Kings Island was no exception.

In 2020, the park pushed opening day to July 2, but this year, Kings Island plans to open on May 15 to the general public.

While Gold and Platinum pass holders can attend a preview on May 8 or 9, non-passholders won’t begin their fun until May 15.

For the first two weeks, Kings Island will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays, but after Memorial Day weekend, normal weekday hours will resume.

The Soak City Water Park will open on Saturday, May 29 for Memorial Day Weekend.

If you bought a season pass in 2020 but weren’t able to use it, don’t worry — Kings Island is honoring all 2020 season passes during the 2021 season.

According to its website, Kings Island is continuing to monitor pandemic conditions and is working with health experts and government officials to maintain safety standards for guests and associates alike. Go to visitkingsisland.com for updates on requirements, policies and safety protocols.
