You can have a good time and support local, women-owned businesses at the inaugural WOB Crawl in Covington.
On Sunday, April 23 from 1-7 p.m., more than two dozen women-owned businesses in downtown Covington and Mainstrasse will help showcase the many retail shops, bars, restaurants, service providers and other businesses owned by women in these neighborhoods. Aviatra Accelerators, a regional nonprofit that helps empower women entrepreneurs with education, resources and connections, is hosting the crawl.
“There are so many local women-owned businesses that we wanted to celebrate and support; we thought this would be a fun and engaging way to highlight them,” Aviatra CEO Jill Morenz said in a press release.
Crafts & Vines, Grainwell, Inspired Fashion, the Law Offices of Shannon C. Smith, MK’s Totebags and Monogramming, Peachy & Vintage and Purple Paisley Local Artisan Shop are just some of the businesses taking part. Each stop will have special discounts, light refreshments and chances to win raffle prizes and gifts.
“Support for diverse business ownership is not a talking point for the City of Covington; it’s in our DNA, it’s how we administer our incentives and assistance. We are proud to be part of this event and even more proud that so many women-owned businesses choose to make their home in Covington,” Tom West, economic development director for the City of Covington, said in the release.
A wristband for the crawl is $20. You’ll also receive a map and access to the participating businesses. All proceeds from the event will help fund Aviatra Accelerators and NKU’s Women in Entrepreneurship Club’s missions to provide education and support to female entrepreneurs.
