It’s going to begin to look a lot like Christmas in Cincinnati starting this weekend with the arrival of the annual Duke Energy Holiday Tree.

The tree will be delivered to downtown Cincinnati’s Fountain Square at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. The 55-foot Norway Spruce from Litchfield, Ohio, will be lifted into place at the southwest corner of the square by O’Rourke Demolition Company, with strands of lights and a 5-foot-tall, custom 10-point star being added throughout the day.

Spectators are invited to enjoy the Square’s Tree Trimming party in the WGU Warming Tent from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. A local crafter will be leading a free ornament-making activity from 10 a.m. until noon, and you can also skate in the UC Health Ice Rink for free from 8-10 a.m. After 10, the rink’s admission will be $10 per person, which includes skate rentals.

After it’s decorated, the tree will serve as the centerpiece of Duke Energy’s Light Up the Square event, happening on Friday, Nov. 29 this year, and the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati’s Downtown Dazzle series, which kicks off on Nov. 30.
