Cincinnati’s Kings Island amusement park is expanding its entertainment offerings with a new endeavor.

The park announced plans to open $27 million luxury outdoor resort and camping destination called Camp Cedar this coming spring.

The camp will be located on 50 acres of land less than 1 mile from the park. The acreage will be transformed into a unique lodging space boasting 73 chic cottages (with 100 additional cottages planned) and 164 full-service RV spaces.

The resort will feature two separate pools — a family-friendly activity pool and an adults-only pool — both offering poolside service as well as cabanas. There will also be camping essentials like firepits, grills, picnic tables, laundry facilities and bathhouses.

Additionally, Camp Cedar will have several dining and entertainment options including: The Grand Lodge, an indoor and outdoor restaurant/bar with shopping, exercise space and large fireplace; and a food-truck style outdoor cantina featuring American, Mexican and Italian fare. “Stay and Play” packages that merge lodging and amusement park fun are planned to offer exclusive experiences for guests.

“We are excited to offer our guests a unique lodging experience and a contemporary outdoor retreat so close to Kings Island,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island, in a press release. “The addition of Kings Island Camp Cedar luxury outdoor resort will make a visit to our park even more memorable.”

According to the release, the resort is owned by Small Brothers, LLC and Terra Firma Associates and will be managed by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which owns Kings Island.

“It’s natural for us to partner with Cedar Fair, the owners of Kings Island,” said Jon Small, chairman and CEO of Small Brothers, in the same press release. “As a top destination in the area, their ability to entertain and provide a place to create lasting memories is exactly the type of experience we want our visitors to have at Kings Island Camp Cedar.”

In addition to welcoming amusement park visitors, the resort will also be an ideal destination for those traveling for the Western & Southern Open, Warren County Sports Park and other local attractions.
