Go on a musical journey toward acceptance with label•less, playing at Playhouse in the Park’s Rouse Theater from July 8-16.
Musical label•less focuses on issues affecting our society like race, sexuality and mental health, as well as the youth who inherited a world they didn’t create.
“It has never been easier to connect with others yet our world has never been more divided. The struggle to understand and accept people that do not look the same, sound the same, think the same has never been more real,” a description of the musical reads.
The musical aims to be a place to start those difficult, but necessary, conversations through popular music, dance and personal stories, all performed by a cast ranging in age from 14 to 24 over the course of 90 minutes. Regardless of the topic, label•less seeks to frame it in a way everyone can understand and relate to and build hope for a better future.
label•less is put on by Drew and Lea Lachey of Lachey Arts (yes, that Drew Lachey of 98 Degrees fame). It was first performed in March 2018 and received such an overwhelming response that is was the only live performance included in the Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival that fall, according to a press release.
